It's All About the Birds...
The Friends of the Arts and the Eagles Mere Conservancy have joined forces to honor the birds of Sullivan County with a series of programs inspired by our avian friends.
Birds remind us we share an ecosystem. They pollinate our fruit, spread seeds and devour pests. We wake to their morning chorus and enjoy their courting dances. As symbols of joy, freedom and new beginnings, birds have inspired artists, musicians and writers over the ages.
The Birds
The Friends of the Arts and the Eagles Mere Conservancy are highlighting a dozen birds selected from the over 100 bird species that nest in or migrate through Sullivan County each summer.
All photos, with one exception, were taken by Rick Liebert. The Belted Kingfisher photo is from Wikipedia.
Each bird page has a link to Cornell's All About Birds overview of that bird species, which includes descriptions, images, audio of the bird's sounds, and tips for locating and identifying the bird. Friends of the Arts programs relating to our bird theme will be identified in our calendar by a bird symbol..
