Although Dark-eyed Juncos spend most of their summers in Canada and our western mountains, these so-called “snow birds” become one of the most abundant sparrows in North America during the colder winter months. We are lucky to have them all year long in Eagles Mere. Look for their flashy white tails on our forest trails as well as in flocks at feeders or feeding on the ground beneath them.
