Red-eyed Vireo

A tireless songster, the Red-eyed Vireo is one of the most common summer residents of our local forests. These birds have been known to sing as many as 10,000 songs in a single day. Although their songs may echo through the forests around Eagles Mere, they are not always that easy to spot as they are usually perched up high in leafy treetops. It’s best if you look for them after the leaves have dropped, but not for very long. The Red-eyed Vireo migrates all the way to South America every winter.
