Fiber Week: Stitching Class with Sally Kahler

Today's fashion today follows various whims and trends. Embroidery on jeans and jackets is once again popular, so this will be the focus for this stitching class. In this class you will learn various stitches including French knots, feather stitch, straight, running and satin stitch. After practicing the stitches, you will create a design to embroider on your own jeans, jackets or tops.

Inside Look: A Mini Course in Constructing a Play

Enrich and deepen your theater going experience as you take a front row seat at the rehearsals for The Forever Question by James Christy Jr. and directed by Harriet Power. Interact with our three 2023 Eagles Mere Artists in Residence, director Harriet Power and actors Sophia Barrett and Jake Blouch . As you engage with and observe the director, cast and design staff, you will gain insight into the production process and understand the choices and changes that happen when a play is brought to life.

Fiber Week: Needle Felted Paintings with Sara Setzer

Needle Felting is a craft that is rapidly growing in popularity. Needle felters use a special felting needle and felting wool to create designs on felt that can framed or used to create decorative objects. Using this easy to learn skill, each participant will create a 10-inch felted painting in a predetermined or freehand design, depending on their individual skill level, using wool and felting needles.

Introduction to Acrylic Landscape Painting with Gerry Mann

Participants in this class will work to finish a small landscape painting of a subject/place of their choosing by working from a photograph. Various painting tools will be discussed and modeled. The concept of an underpainting will be demonstrated and the basics of color theory will be taught as individuals build their images and experience the nuances of color expression.

Let’s Face It: Creative Self Portraits with Amy Cohen

No Experience Necessary. Really!

How do you want to depict yourself? Portraits created in this workshop will provide a snapshot in time, showing who you are at this moment.

On day one, you will learn how to draw a realistic black and white pencil portrait of the head. Amy will do a demonstration on measuring and proportion necessary to depict a representational head, and then work one-on-one with participants on their self-portraits.

Day two will focus on creating a portrait of your Psychological Selves. We will begin with a demonstration/lecture with examples of how pencil manipulation, composition, scale, proportion and light can be employed to create a portrait that goes beyond straight representation.
