Class limited to 12

$85 per person, bring scissors, personal ephemera, etc.

Ages 15+

Collage is a great entry into image and art making. This accessible workshop will appeal to those new to collage or those with an art background. There is no one way to collage. After a short introduction to the history and art of collage, you will soon be creating your own work. We’ll start with the tools of the trade – material foraging, mark making, layering, composition, and narrative,  before diving into tearing, cutting, deconstructing, and reassembling. The class will conclude with sharing your work and tips on continuing this art practice on your own. Some materials will be provided. Please bring your own scissors and any old paper or fabric scraps, old magazines/newspaper/books you might want to deconstruct. Some enjoy including personal ephemera such as photographs, letters, postcards, previously created artwork or textured items for rubbings. Let’s spend the day in creative companionship during this hands-on workshop. Those taking the journaling class may want to incorporate collage items into their journals.
