Brain/Food: Rules of Civility

July 27, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Discussion of Amor Towles’ first novel, Rules of Civility (2011). A 25-year-old ambitious woman, Katey Kontent, finds her way through New York City’s high society in 1938. She rises from the Wall Street secretarial pool through the upper echelons of society in search of a brighter future. When this book was initially published, it was so successful that the author was able to retire from his investment job and to pursue writing full-time. He has written two other wonderful books, A Gentleman in Moscow and The Lincoln Highway. Discussion led by Peggy Polaneczky. Location changed to Community Hall.
