Wrap It Up – Embroidering Nature with Sally Kahler

August 5 @ 9:00 am - August 7 @ 12:00 pm

Tuesday and Thursday August 5 and August 7, 2025 @ 9 AM – Noon
Class limited to 12
$50 per person, materials included, take-home material available
Ages 15+

Sally chooses rocks to be wrapped from the Loyalsock Creek, which has long been a favorite place to hike and swim. She then uses cane strips softened in water to wrap the rocks. As the cane dries it shrinks and tightens around the rocks, as if embracing them. Embroidery floss, leather cord and string are also used. It is a very meditative, calming, Zen-like practice creating a beautiful memory piece.

Different patterns of rock wrapping will continue on the second day. Wrapped sticks will be added to create a sculptural wall hanging or an addition to your wrapped stones. Embroidering leaves will round out our celebration of local nature.
