Rear Window (1954 PG, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Jimmy Stewart & Grace Kelly)

Rear Window is considered by many film goers, critics, and scholars to be one of Hitchcock’s best films, as well as one of the greatest films ever made. The film is an American mystery thriller based on Cornell Woolrich’s 1942 short story, It Had to Be Murder.

Rear Window was shot almost entirely from within one room and from the point-of-view outside the window. The photographer, Jeff, confined to a wheelchair, becomes convinced he has witnessed a murder in a neighboring apartment. As he begins an investigation from his rear window, he enlists the help of his girlfriend, his nurse, and a police officer to confirm his suspicions. However, the potential killer soon realizes he’s being observed and turns his attention toward the photographer, creating a suspenseful and dangerous game of cat and mouse.
