Discover the power of what’s in your back pocket!
In this workshop with iPhone photography expert Julie Stauffer, you will learn to use your iPhone as a camera and editing device and will discover the vast technical capabilities of this electronic device. Your photographs taken with your iPhone promise to stand out as creative and personal interpretations of what you “see” before you press the shutter. This workshop is designed to meet you where you are so that those already familiar with some of the introductory information can take off in new directions.
You will download the camera and editing apps, master the intricacies of your in-house Apple camera, take photographs around beautiful Eagles Mere, and edit your images to share with the group. The class will explore apps that allow you to change your photograph to a watercolor, an oil painting, a pen and ink drawing, a multiple exposure, an abstract…or just edit your image to make it go from good to great. The group willalso discuss composition of a photograph, what makes a good image, what could one do better, why does one “like” a photograph; it is called deconstruction when we observe what we see in an image and what and why it works as a photograph.
By the close of the class, you will have mastered the use of your iPhone with optional camera apps, feel comfortable editing your photos, know how to send your work to others, upload it to Facebook or Instagram and even print an artistic copy. There will be lots of “ah-ha” moments as Julie walks you through a new experience with your phone.
About Julie Stauffer
After photographing weddings, families, and gardens for 20 years, Julie Stauffer was seeking another photographic challenge. Taking her new iPhone 4 to an iPhone photography workshop in 2010 launched her into another teaching career. She kept taking workshops to refine her skills and realized how large a population carried their iPhones with them 24/7 and were unaware of the capability of the iPhone camera. She designed a workshop and traveled up and down the East Coast for several years teaching where ever there was interest and a flat screen TV. Teaching had always been her love and now she offered other iPhone owners the opportunity to develop their skills using the camera on their device. We all know the camera has continued to develop with each new generation; there are professional photographers that have turned in their large DSLRs and use only the iPhone camera as their “go to” camera. Julie also teaches in Lancaster where she lives when not in Eagles Mere. She thoroughly loves seeing students realize just what they have been carrying with them but never realized its potential until they took a workshop. www.juliestaufferphotography.com
